KIDS AND PAINT
Today is cloudy and it will most likely rain again. One of the things my grandkids love doing rain or shine is to paint. Not paper. We go outside and root around until we find the perfect rock. You would be surprized to see how big a deal this is.Everyone in our family has a collection both inside the house and on the front porch. The kids are so careful to choose colors that look good next to each other. Seth, who just turned 5, has a large collection and has been rock painting since he was 2 1/2.They also have lots of glitter to add for that special effect. Last winter Cady had the neighbor kids here and when they saw the rocks that Seth had done they asked if they could paint too. One of the girls was 16. They are from a single parent family and have very little in the way of material possessions. They took great care in their creations. When they finished and had sprayed on a clear acrylic coating, the girls and their little brother carried these works of art home and presented them to their Mom for her birthday. Even if those kids had money, that Mom could not have received any gifts that meant as much as those old rocks. What I loved best was how proud they were of what they had made. I'll take a rock painted with love over a diamond rock any day.
