ANOTHER WEDDING

In the past 2 months we have been to about 4 weddings and I wont even mention the funerals.Since I am not a real girl,,I have nothing nice to wear.I have 2 dresses but they look like winter. Even I have my standards so I had to actually buy something to wear. Since we dont know these people all that well and they have been living together for a few years,,nobody had a clue what kind of gift to buy.The bride is the mom of my daughter Cadys(my youngest and last child at home) kindergarten sweetheart.Cady and Sebastion are nearly 16 now.The groom is a bigwig at my husbands place of work. They are both really nice people. Another problem with the gift dilemma is that they are very well off,,live in a big art deco style home on the hill. Some of the other folks at work decided not to attent because they could not figure out or afford a gift.Just as I was about to have a melt down over this silly issue my husband came up the the gift idea. A nice bottle of wine from the local winery.Being a person that only functions when under extreem stress,I got the gift and an outfit and a pair of sandals and the card all 3 hrs before the wedding was due to begin. If we had been late like we normally are we would not have had to sit as long as we did in silence in the hot church with all the other sweating people wondering where the hell the bride was. Believe me,,when the pastor declared them to be husband and wife the clapping and cheering was really everyone saying "free at last, free at last,,thank God almighty we're free at last".Everyone assumed we would all now be going across town to the elks lodge to eat drink and party,,instead we were told that the reception would not be for 1 hour. What a thrill. We loaded up and went to our sons house and hung out for a while. We live out of town the other direction and were not going home for that 1 hour.Got to the elks,,after waiting 1 more hour and paying 2.00 for a can of coke,,we were all fed. After the clean up a dj played a couple of songs and we thought "okay now we will have a good time",,nope,,groom got up and announced that now was the time for everyone to go home and change into more comfortable clothes. In 1 more hour they would cut the cake and party down.Had we decided to do that(which we did not) that would have been nearly 4 hours of wait time at this odd wedding. We went to Sonic for a hot fudge sundae and came home.I love to come home,,there is no place in the world like home. Its where I feel safe. Besides, maybe i can find a rerun of "DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER".

That bride and groom were ridiculous in how they handled their wedding reception. I would've left, too, and taken the wine with me. :)
