Just This Once

I keep my face off my blog. Habit. I take em but I don't like to be in any pictures. Joe took this of Maddie and me playing the Duck game.

Brothers

I don't get to see Jaylon and Brother(Nehemiah). Brother is what Jaylon started calling him and it has stuck. He is the happiest baby ever born.

Gage And A Train

Gage told me all week that he was not riding any rides. I knew he was going to fall. He got over that pretty fast. Here he is with an unknown cutiepie co-pilot.

Oh Boy, It's Time For The Fair Again

It takes all year to forget how much we all dislike the fair. That's why we all go every year. We plain ol forgot. The one good thing is food. Joe totally ate himself from one end to the other last night. Joey appeared to be going at it pretty good himself. It was incredibly hot and very crowded. It took very little time for people to get cranky. I was not one of them. Yes, every now and then I give someone else a turn to be the pain in the ass. I feel so superior when I am not the one being jerky. Last night was Joe and Sara's turn. At some point I just walked away from him and headed to the livestock barn. I thought I had lost him but he was right on my tail. Sara was mad cuz her baby girl was having a fit and she wasn't getting to do anything at all. I took Madison and we played the "DUCKS" game. She won some bracelets and a few other prizes. Joe and I took her to the exhibit bldg and had a good time in there. At some point the intense heat took it's toll on little Mad so Sara had to come get her and take her home. Cady is almost 17 and her Dad doesn't like that boys like her. He goes insane over boys talking to his baby. It made for a wonderful time. Our main trouble was just that we were all hot and acting like cranky 2 yr olds. Don't you want to hang with us? I didn't think so.

If I Seem Happy

Going into a crazy fit of depression over our finances or the lack there of ,turned out to be a good thing. My husband had a talk with his boss this morning. My husband works so hard and has been feeling crappy himself over his pay situation. But he is not one of those guys who marches in and says anything. That's why it was about 3 yrs in between raises. Long damn time. When they checked out his records and saw that they had skipped over him all that time they made it all okay. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted. Oh, we aren't going on vacation or buying new furniture but we can probably not worry about rolling pennies for toilet paper anymore. Think I'm kidding? In New Mexico people are po. It sucks always scraping by. I know we are blessed but I sure feel more blessed now. Also, just found out I am gonna be a Grandma AGAIN. That makes 8. Gage has been begging for a baby sister. I told them long ago that I cannot take on a newborn. Jessie is going be a SAHM. Joey makes enough they will be fine. Wow, thats alot of people at the table on Thanksgiving. I cannot wait.

Same Post Different Year

This year just flew by.

I felt a cleaving in my mind
as if my brain had split;
I tried to match it, seam by seam
But could not make it fit.

The thought behind I strove to join
Unto the thought before,,
But sequence ravelled out of reach
Like balls upon the floor.

IT'S JUST NOT THE SAME

Today was the first day of school. All kids in Otero County were back in their desks by 8:30 am . I feel somewhat letdown. I am the mother of 5 kids. Thats alot of kids, food and laundry. Plus all the other goodies I won't go into tonight. The first day back at school was so wonderful that I can only compare it to how I felt about Christmas when I was a little girl. With each passing day my excitement grew. The night before I could hardly sleep. And then after all the screaming and fighting over the one bathroom and who stole whose new jeans, they were off on their respective buses.Oh the peace and the peace. I could clean house uninterrupted. I could wash the dishes without having to refill the sink 4 times because the water had grown ice ass cold while I broke up a fight or made some helpless teen a sandwich.(my kids love the way I make a sandwich) It was a slice of heaven for me. I would bake them cookies and brownies and be ever so glad to see them when they got home.(you cannot miss them when they never leave) We just got along better. Now there is only Cady left at home. She's pretty quiet and actually helps me around the house. She has a job and isn't even here that much. Between the others being grown and gone and Cady being helpful and mostly easy to be around ,the entire back to school thing has had all the fun and joy sucked right out of it for me.

Fat Cat

Here's an old picture of the Kitty.Joe calls him Kit Kat and I call him Chubby. He's not lookin this good right now but maybe he will be okay.

It's Fun Monday

Thank you Beckie. This weeks Fun Monday is being hosted by Beckie over at "Give it a Try, One Day at a Time".

When I was a little girl my 2 favorite treats were both candy bars. LOOK and U-NO bars. They were also my Dads favorite goodies. If we touched one of my Dads treats we were real sorry. Sitting in the dentists chair also made me real sorry. Ouch! These 2 treats can usually only be found at speciality shops now. The year before my Dad passed away I sent him a case of U-NO bars. He was thrilled and that made me so happy to actually please him.

My other favorite treat is home-made cheesecake. Store bought doesn't do it. Gotta make it yourself. Too bad it's so fattening.

UPDATE

Joe spent until 3am trying to coax Kitty out of the woodpile. He finally gave up and came in. I was awke till 4:30 at least waiting for the dogs to return. I heard Kitty get on the roof at some point and knew he was safe for a while. Joe found him just now and his hind leg has been injured. He's bleeding but walking. Gonna see if Cadys vet tech friend will come out and check. Cady works at the vets so we will get a break on our bill. No, the neighbors will not pay a cent. They won't even take care of their pets when injured. Out here it's take care of your own business. If we lived in town it would be different. Thought about deleting this post so as not to offend anyone but I don't want to. I hate guns too. Sometimes it's the way you gotta go. joe just informed me he got rid of his 22 so no birdshot. decidied to buy an high powered air rifle and give it a try. if not still have another gun. we have guns because we live in the country. have had bob cats mountain lions and coyotes in my yard. not to mention crack head neighbors during the years. we are out here in the dark alone.i hate guns and don't even know where joe has them hid. i am already defending myself because i know i am going to offend people i like.i've dried too many tears. my kids have buried too many beloved pets. our yard is fenced in but we have a creek running thru it that is a source of irrigation for many farmers and are not allowed to block where it enters our property.dogs walk right under. it hasn't been a big problem for yrs now. it has been worse this summer but this is the first attack. sometimes if you hurt the dogs they stop coming back. hope it works.

Here's where's I Go From Peace And Love To Get The Fucking Gun

Christian and I went back out at 1:20 to check out the stars one more time. Just got him tucked in and was shutting down my pc when I heard what I thought was my husband snoring. Not Joe. It was the fucking neighbors fucking dogs trying to eat our sweet little kitty. This furry ball of fluff moved on to our back porch 4 yrs ago. He lets Joe hold him and he follows Joe all over the yard. But he isn't into being touched by the rest of us or coming in the house. When I realized what was going on I ran through the house and almost through the back door. I was screaming and cursing and those dogs never even heard me. As I got closer and louder they looked at me and left. The kitty is hiding behind a big tarp covering a wood pile. We can't get to him and don't know if they got him or not. In the almost 17 yrs we have lived here we have had more pets than I can remember eaten or savaged by dogs running loose. One was a pitbull and the other a smaller dog. I know where they live. Out here it is legal to shoot an animal that has come into your yard and hurt or killed one of your animals. I don't like to have to be this way but I refuse to allow this kind of shit again. Same neighbor different dogs. Getting birdshot for the gun tomorrow and Joe or I will warm their asses next time they appear. If that doesn't work they can be dead. Either way .

Gods Free Light Show

Don't forget to be out late tomorrow night or early Monday morning to see the best Perseid meteor shower in a couple of years. Last year was ruined by the full moon. This year there is no moon to spoil any veiwing. Joe and I have been outside for a couple hours tonight with Christian and Seth and Cady just kicking back in lawn chairs watching the show. Okay, my neck feels like I was in a minor collision but its worth it. Tommorrow night will be the peak but there's still a good show tonight. Everyone is in bed and as soon as I finish up here I have to run out there just long enough to see one more. We saw one tonight that went horizontal across the sky and was one of the longest ones we have ever seen. I would like to go up to the mts for tomorrow nights show but I know Joe isn't gonna want to . I am planning to tell him I will go alone. Then he will go with me. Oh, he will be glad later. We used to have all our friends over for this. The last few years have been bad for viewing and we have pooped out on the party part. Ah well, there are still the Leonids. It's just so cold by then.

We Read So Many Books

Gage and I started at the last part of May. Every week checking out at least 13 books. He would have me reading by 8am each day. I can't even form words for the first hour I am awake. I had to get myself goin, but fast. He got very good at using his "library voice".Never once did I have to remind him. So many kids and parents didn't seem to know how to keep it down. He learned where the kid books were. He learned how to check his books back in. No matter how long it took,(when you are only 3 it takes a while let me tell ya) he would place each book into the book drop until the job was done. One of his favorite things. I enjoyed the books too. So many wonderful stories. So many fantastic illustrators. There were prizes for the most books read, a raffle, and prizes for the best book report. For the little guys Gages age they drew a picture representing their favorite book. Gage chose "The Red Balloon". He won first prize in his age group and got to pick a new book. All the kids got a T-shirt for participating. When his name was called he jumped up and said "I'm Gage".He had a great time. It is the first "thing" he has been involved in. He will be 3 in Sept.

The Once A Week Blogger

I suck. I am getting worse about getting anything done here. It's been a busy week. But that's no excuse. Molly, over @ Lost A Sock, has two little boys and leads what seems to me a very busy life. She posts most everyday. So there ya go. I am just lazy. I sure keep up with everyone all week. I just can't make myself take 2 seconds and sign in so I can post or comment. I don't watch Gage on Fridays so I can get in here now with no excuse. Last week after my post about Rocky Horror I listened to one song and decided not to put the movie on. I got onto something completely different. I am very A.D.D. I am always jumping from thing to thing. I love the artwork of Tasha Tudor. Her life story is so very interesting. This is a place that knowing how to add links would be good. Too bad I have never spent 5 minutes and learned how to do that. Time,,I need more.Tasha is 92 yrs old I think. She lives in a different time. It's just beautiful. One of my favorite books when I was very small was "And it Was So". Her illustrations are so sweet. If you get the chance go to the family website and enjoy a peaceful moment. Because if you are listening to "The Time Warp" then you need some peace about now. My big problem or maybe not a problem,oh I think it must be, is that I have never decided what I want to be when I grow up. Eclectic is a good word to describe me. I just love pieces of so many things. I am taking Cady to work and then I want to catch up . Her trip to Calif was a blast. I had Gage in the summer reading program at the library this summer. Last Saturday was the grand finale. It's the first thing I have done in a long time that I felt really proud of. be back..oh, the pictures are of tasha. you really should read about her. it's a great story. i have always loved that time period and wearing old long skirts and aprons. aprons were last mondays fun assignment. see i want to have bits of the past but still have air conditioning and television.cars i can live without. i think the world was better off when it was a bigger place. when you could only kill people who were standing in front of you.does that make any sense to you?
