You Will Be Missed

Larry "Bud" Melman, one of my favorite old guys has passed away. I loved when he did his "Toast On A Stick" routine.

Duck Update

Oh, he didn't die.(March 17th post) I expected him to come home in a box but no. Vet figured since Cady works for a vet and knows how to give injections he would send home meds and see if Aflac could make a comeback. Well, he is better. Joe made him his own little cage up off the ground. He gets a shot everyday before Cady makes her mad dash to the bus. (if she gave herself 2 extra minutes she would be fine. Guess she likes the sport of it) Anyhow, today Joe came home for lunch and decided duck needed a bit of a wash. He just hosed him off a little. He was looking dirty since being away from the pool. I looked out on this and thought the duck looked pitiful. Like a drowned rat. I mentioned to Joe he was maybe too wet. (okay,I know, he's a duck!) Next time I looked out the backdoor Joe was blowdrying the poor thing. He didn't get to eat as it took an hr to get the duck just right. Wish Cady hadn't taken the batteries out of my camera for her walkman.

Shee it

"38 Special" is playing in Ruidoso at "The Inn Of The Mt Gods" this week-end. Was planning to go. Seems concerts there are now held in rooms with a bar and slot machines so nobody under 21 allowed. Well the hell with it. If Cady can't go we don't want to go . Several years ago we took Joey to an outdoor concert there to see "Three Dog Night". He didn't think he would like it but he had a blast. ZZ Top is playing soon too. Maybe when summer gets here they will do some more outdoor events. I don't think they care if the kids are around booze,it's the slots they gotta tow the line on. Odd huh?

In This Corner,,my baby

My son Billy, the cage fighter. I do not like it and have never seen him fight. He just sent me a few pictures that are going on the poster for the next fight in April. He keeps bugging me to come to watch him. I never missed a game when he was playing basketball. He and one other guy were the whole team. He was so good. It makes no damn difference to me that he is 27 yrs old. I know me,I know what would happen if someone hit him and drew blood. He would wish I wasn't there. No matter how old my kids are,in myheart they are my babies. The only ticket I have even received was for threatening to beat up an officer of the court for trying to handcuff and take my son Joey. To see Billy fight I would have to be sedated. This will be the first fight here in his hometown and he knows everyone. There will be a good crowd,I don't need to be there.

Happy Birthday Joe

Today is my sweety's birthday. Unfortunately he and I are both about to die from the worst hayfever ever. He's never had it before. He had to sleep on the couch last night sitting up just to breathe. Looks like he is doing the same tonight. He sounds like a bullfrog when he talks. We are going to have his birthday on Friday. I was talking about starting my list of "100 Things". This is a good time to start. Today Joe turned 39 yrs old. Last month was my birthday and I turned 54. God, how can I possibly be that old? So anyway, Thing #1 about me that you didn't know is that I am 15 yrs older than my husband. He came along and saved my life. We met while both working in a Chinese Restaurant. It was a beautiful place. We were good friends for a very long time before things got serious. I'm too sleepy to go into the big story. We have been together for 18 yrs and married for 15. We got married here in our house in front of the fireplace and next to the Xmas tree. Dec 28th. This is the longest I have ever lived anyplace in my life. Cady has lived here since she was 6 weeks old. It is home. I can smell rain coming in across the desert. It is a fantastic smell. Sage bushes and mesquite. Well, good night all. ps, I have no clue why all those cakes are there,I only put one. ah hell.

Warning, Extreem Fugly

Okay, normally I would not bother but this just about blinded me. This woman has no friends and nobody loves her. If they did they would have done whatever they had to do to keep her from leaving the house in this.

Happy St. Patricks Day To One And All

Not sure if these are Scottish or Irish buns and it makes no difference.

Tis A Green Day

Making a ham and fried cabbage, corn biscuits, potato salad and cheese cake. Got some "Killian's Irish Red" to wash it all down. Listening to "Enter The Haggis "and lots of other great Irish Celt type tunes. I love "Flogging Molly". Everything was going great till THE DUCK INCIDENT. One of our old ducks is sick. Maybe a broken leg, maybe any of a million things. Joe has been trying to nurse him back to health. Joe can't stand to have an animal put down. The duck was flopping around on his back and could not get upright. It's heartbreaking. Cady works for a vet. He's in Denver at a conference. I called the super nice vet who we took the parakeet to. The birdie who died of fright as he was being examined. We don't have much money left. She told me it is 30.00 to have duck put down. Then she told me we get a 10% discount. When I asked why, she said "cuz I say so, I'm the Dr's wife".I was talking a mile a minute cuz I was in panic mode. Like now. A suffering animal makes me crazy. I thought Cady would be okay with this cuz she helps with this sort of thing everyday at work. She holds the dogs and cats and prays for them and makes them feel safe and loved as they go to sleep. I could never do this. She isn't okay with this today. Poor little girl. I want to make it all okay but I cannot. If there is something that can be done to heal the duck that isn't in the crazy zone as far as price goes ,then we will do it. Joe and Cady should be there by now and I am glad I am not. I expect we will be adding yet another little critter to our pet cemetary.(horrible film) I'm sure I have lots of mistakes here but I'm not re-rreading so gonna start cleaning my porch and waiting for my broken hearted Cady and Joe to come home. Think I will have a Killians right now.

MAY GOOD LUCK BE WITH YOU

WHEREVER YOU GO,

AND YOUR BLESSINGS OUTNUMBER

THE SHAMROCKS THAT GROW.

I'm Missin Frank

I have this strange thing about books. I wasn't that way 6 years ago. I think it must have started with "Angelas Ashes" now that I am really thinking about it. It's almost St Patricks Day and by now I should be knee deep in the river Shannon. I hid the book from myself after my last reading of it cuz I knew I would start it again. I don't know where I shoved it but I want it.NOW! I have read this book probably 10 times in 4 or 5 years. Oh, I read "Tis" a few times too but the first book is my favorite. I need to go and buy "Teacher Man" just to finish off the trilogy. Whatever, I get to missing Frank and his brothers and I need them. Trying to find just the right dinner to make on the 17th. No corned beef this year. I do not think that many of the poor Irish could have afforded beef anyhow. Maybe I will boil up a nice pigs head like Angela. Yum.

Gee, Wonder If He's Thinking of Throwing His Hat In

How amazing that after all these years the gov of New Mexico has finally outlawed cockfighting . We were one of only 2 remaining states to allow this bloodthirsty sport. Now it's just Louisianna. Then as if that weren't enough, yesterday Gov Richardson signed into law a no smoking ban. I am all for that but I hate it when they only act on issues when it serves them and not us. These jerks only act when it's election time. He is Gov of a very beautiful and very poor state. I don't think he has time to turn that one around. Oh, it's not poor up in Santa Fe or Taos, all the hot celebs have bought homes there driving the property values and taxes up so that the people who have lived there for generations now can't afford it. Bill Richards has been working up to this for years but he won't get my vote if he makes it that far. Although I will be so glad to see anyone besides Mr Bush.

Odds And Ends And People With A Purpose

Posting a picture I have of Wavy Gravy cuz I like him. Met him a couple of times in the 60's, he was with the Hog Farm and fed my friends and I and thousands of others. We could use more people like him. This isn't my pic,I saved it from someplace.

Feeling so much better this week. I never let a good day go by unnoticed. I am thankful.

Okay,I Admit It

The problems I have been having w/blogger were my fault. I hate it when that happens. I do need to take the time to learn how to set up links and such. I can't sit still that long. Today started out so beautiful. By noon it took a turn for for ugly. The wind is blowing extreemly hard. I always get afraid it will blow one of the big cottonwood trees down upon us. I wanted to clean up dog poop, now it's also looking like rain and there is lightening all around us. I think the poop can wait. Joe fixed my vacuum cleaner and is now on a spree. He has hit almost every room. I love it! Hope he gets the cobb webs too. Strange term, "cobb web". Is it one word or two. I will have to look up word origions. Now that I have my shit back together I will sit down later when there is time and do a real post. I keep saying that. I still have lots of pics to post also. I totally left out the baby shower. Yes, I knew you wanted to see all the excitment that is my life and I won't let you down. Next week I have to do my part in potty training Gage. I sorta dropped the ball on that. They brought me the potty 2 weeks ago. I hate potty training. It's kinda like when they(Joey and Jessie) took him off the bottle. He was with me all day and I didn't like the crying at nap time so I kept giving it to him. Well, I finally had to confess my crime and stop with the bottle. He kept crying for it at home. Oops, gotta run.

For Those About To Rock

Tonight we did something we haven't done in years. We went to hear live rock n roll. Actually it was not rock, not to me. It was more heavy metal. It was fun. We went to hear the son of a very dear friend of mine who passed away 6 years ago. My friend Dave would have been so proud to hear his boy play that bass guitar. He's the same age as Cady,16. I have been invited a few times and never went. It's a big deal to Matthew that his Dads old friends were there. My daughter Heather even came and brought the baby and the boys. There was smoking,a small bar in the corner where we had a beer and a glass of wine.I can't believe Heather came. Baby Natalie was in back away from the speakers but she loved it and was rockin out. It's the first smoke to hit my lungs in a long time and the first for the baby. Most likely the last. She was only there for an hour and it wasn't too crowded. We all cried watching Matt and feeling the absense of David. I thought it was to be a teen thing, but it was a mix of old and young. We saw lots of people we haven't seen in years as we don't party anymore. Well, not that kind. The teens were all having fun and Cady was really happy. She was not allowed out the door and no maushing. What the hell is that anyhow? Dancing and fighting? Gee,what fun. Now we gotta get to sleep cuz we got church in the morning. Baby shower tomorrow. The fun,it just never ends.

Nehemiah Came Into The World Today

Our new grandson couldn't wait those last 2 weeks and decided today was his day. It's late and even though I am too spaced out to do a real post I want to get his picture up tonight. What a blessing . He is grandbaby # 7. I love him.
